Arrest made in robbery of HSU residence hall |
ARCATA — One arrest has been made following a robbery that occurred Dec. 2 in the Sunset Residence Hall on the Humboldt State University Campus. HSU student Benjamin Beilin, a freshman from Valencia, Calif., was arrested Friday after the investigation led University Police to believe Beilin was involved with the incident. Beilin was not present at the time of the crime, but is suspected of providing information to the three other suspects involved in the incident, according to an HSU press release. Beilin was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony, first-degree robbery of a dwelling and false imprisonment. Beilin is being held at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, and his arraignment is scheduled for today, HSU said. The robbery occurred in Sunset Hall just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 2. The victim reported that three men broke into his room, bound his arms and legs, and stole property. No weapons were observed by the victim, and he declined any medical attention. The suspects were last seen on foot near the area of LK Wood Boulevard and Plaza Avenue.
