Chamber seeks board candidates

The Crescent City–Del Norte County Chamber of Commerce is seeking candidates for its board of directors.

Elections will be held in November to fill  upcoming open seats. Members of the board of directors represent the Chamber and make decisions in the best interest of the chamber membership. They are required to sit on one or more of the Chamber committees, which include Advocacy, Membership, Financial, Events and Website.

Candidates must either be an individual member or work for an organization or business that is a member in good standing. Candidates will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee.

Green Diamond to get new president

Douglas Reed, the current vice president of Green Diamond’s California operations, will become president of the company Jan. 1, 2014.

The retirement of Bill Brown, who has served as Green Diamond’s president since 2006, was announced this week. 

Before Reed joined Green Diamond in February 2012, he was vice president and general manager of Simpson Lumber Company (2008–2012) and strategic planning manager of Simpson Door Company (2006–2008). Simpson and Green Diamond are affiliated companies.

Green Diamond owns more than 393,000 acres of timber land in Del Norte and Humboldt counties.
