Burglary suspect wanted in Curry County

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s office is seeking help in locating a Crescent City man who has an outstanding warrant in Curry County for burglary.

Benjamin Brittian, 26, of Crescent City is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes.

Brittian was arrested by the Crescent City Police Department on May 17 when officers caught him trying to escape out the back window while law enforcement served a search warrant at his residence on the 1800 block of Blackwell Lane.

Stolen items found in the residence linked Brittian to a string of recent salon burglaries as well as burglaries at City Hall, Two Trees school district building, a local plumbing and heating business and a chiropractic office, police officials said.

Brittian was released from the Del Norte County Jail on May 21, by law, after he was not arraigned within 72 hours, Sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven said. A date for Brittian’s arraignment had not been set as of Friday afternoon, according to the Court Reporter’s office.

Anyone with information leading to Brittian’s location and arrest is asked to call the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office at 464-4191 ext. 221 or dial 911.
