Triplicate photographer Stephen Corleys photo of a forester at a Smith River slash burn was selected as the best in its circulation category in Editor and Publisher magazines Photo of the Year contest.
The prize winners were announced in the Nov. 20 edition of the national newspaper trade magazine.
According to Editor and Publisher, thousands of photos were received from across the nation. One grand prize winner was selected along with four runners up representing different circulation categories. Corleys photo was judged the best from newspapers with a circulation under 10,000.
Sixteen other photos were given honorable mention awards.
