California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has the following roadwork projects scheduled for work Thursday, May 24.
Del Norte County
U.S. Hwy. 101 from milepost 43.2 to 46.5 the widening of the Gilbert Creek Bridge continues between 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect and motorists should anticipate 15-minute delays.
U.S. Hwy. 199 between milepost 25.4-28.1, a curve realignment project from Siskiyou Fork Road to Idlewild Maintenance Station Road continues between 7 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal is in effect 24/7, and motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.
Hwy. 101 from milepost 32.5-32.9, hillside stabilization from .7-.3 miles south of Weott continues. Southbound traffic is restricted to one lane 24 /7, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
From milepost 39.8-43.0, sink hole repair at approximately two miles north of Redcrest continues. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction of travel 24/7, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
From milepost 54.6-57.7, a project to replace the southbound Van Duzen River Bridge continues from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction of travel 24/7 and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
From milepost 58.7-60.5, a median barrier project from Drake Hill Road to 12th Street continues between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction of travel 24/7, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
From milepost 77.1-77.6, PG&E of Eureka has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for utility maintenance between Hawthorn Street and Cedar Street beginning Tuesday. Work hours are 10 p.m.-6:30 a.m. weekdays. Traffic will not be allowed to turn onto eastbound Wabash Avenue, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
Work on all these projects is weather permitting and subject to change. Caltrans advises motorists to drive with caution when approaching work areas and to be prepared to stop at traffic control stations.
Individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.
Oregon Department of Transportation has scheduled work on the following road projects near Del Norte County.
U.S. Hwy. 101 at milepost 334 a rock scaling project will cause 10-minute delays from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. until Friday.
At milepost 352.28 to 357.87 minor corrective work continues. Expect some single-lane closures in Brookings.
At milepost 350.39 to 350.80 expect intermittent lane closures.
At Exit 57 of Interstate 5 a bridge replacement bundle narrows interstate traffic to one lane in each direction until Memorial Day.
At milepost 58-82 work will close shoulders and occasionally a lane south and north-bound from milepost 80-58.
U.S. Hwy. 199 at Laurel a bridge replacement and highway widening project reduces traffic to single lanes during the day.
I-5 at Exit 27 paving and roadwork will begin. The project is detour preparation work for the June 4-Sept. 4 closure of Highland Drive between Greenwood Street and Barnett Road.
At Exit 30, incidental finish work is expected.
At Exit 35 the interstate speed limit is lowered to 55 mph. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the work area both northbound and southbound on I-5.
