Folks are invited for a beach grass pulling party Sunday at Del Norte County’s biggest sand dune.
Hosted by the Redwood Parks Association and the Tolowa Dunes Stewards, participants will learn about rare plants that survive in the environment at Tolowa Dunes State Park. To get to the dune, folks will trek down an easy one-mile trail that meanders through pine forests and coastal meadows.
Pulling out invasive European beach grass is a moderate activity, according to the Tolowa Dunes Stewards, and participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes for walking in sand and bring a hat, water and snacks.
Attendees should meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Lake Earl Wildlife Information Center at 2591 Old Mill Road outside Crescent City. The event will be canceled if there is rain. For more information, call 954-5253.
