Crescent City Council Member Herb Kolodner will attend his last council meeting acting as a decision-maker Monday.
Kolodner plans to resign from the council due to health reasons mainly hearing difficulties, he said. The city will begin accepting applications the following day to fill his vacancy.
At the last council meeting on April 16, the group decided against a special election to fill Kolodner's seat, and instead will appoint a new member.
City residents wishing to become a council member must fill out an application, which can be picked up at City Hall. The form must be returned by 5 p.m. May 18.
"On the 21st, we'll have the interviews (of candidates), and hopefully pick someone then ... before the regular council meeting begins," City Manager Eli Naffah said.
Applications are required for the position, and the city will try to accommodate anyone who might want to apply but can't due to disabilities or other reasons, Naffah said.
Monday's council meeting, Kolodner's last, starts at 6 p.m. in the Cultural Center, located at 1001 Front Street.
