A major two-car accident in Grants Pass involving two Crescent City drivers resulted in the hospitilization of five people.

According to Oregon State Police, Brian Christopher Findlay, 23, of Crescent City was driving in the northbound lane on Grants Pass Parkway near the Interstate 5 interchange Saturday when he swerved his Chevrolet Trailblazer into on-coming traffic that was exiting the freeway from the northbound off-ramp.

Findlay's Trailblazer collied with a GMC Yukon driven by another Crescent City resident, 42-year-old Mary Catherine Marques.

Marques and her front-seat passenger, Kristina Karlene Marques, 18, were transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital with serious injuries. The backseat passengers, Kassi Kailene Marques, 22, and Tiffany Kristine Glossop, 19, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries but later released.

Mary Marques and her daughter, Kristina, both suffered multiple fractures in the accident, according to Kristina's high-school friend Amanda Snowden. She said Kristina suffered a broken leg and arm, and possibly a broken hip. Kristina's mother, Snowden said, fractured both her wrists and ankles.

Findlay was also treated for minor injuries, but was later released.

Oregon State Police from Grants Pass are still investigating the incident, but said they found about one ounce of marijuana in Findlay's vehicle. It is unclear whether the marijuana was a factor in the crash.
