Del Norte County’s preliminary March unemployment rate is 12.1 percent, down 0.4 percent from the revised February rate of 12.5 percent and down 2.0 percent from a year ago.
The comparable, not seasonally adjusted California rate (9.4 percent) was down 0.3 percentage points. In spite of the month-over rate drop, Del Norte slipped from 33rd to 34th-best among the 58 counties statewide, according to figures from the state Labor Market Information Division.
Some surrounding county rates include Siskiyou (15.4 percent), Shasta (12.5 percent), Trinity (15.4 percent), and Humboldt (9.5 percent). Marin (5.2 percent) had the lowest March rate and Colusa County remained highest (23.9 percent). The comparable U.S. rate was 7.6 percent, down 0.5 percentage points over the month.
