Deputies arrest man in home invasion case

Del Norte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 28-year-old Crescent City man Thursday in connection with an April 12 home invasion robbery in Brookings in which the resident was attacked with a Taser.

Jack Pelletier has been identified as part of a group allegedly involved in the home invasion robbery, according to Del Norte County Sheriff Dean Wilson.

According to the Curry Coastal Pilot, two masked men entered Gerald Haussler’s home at about 1:15 a.m. on April 12, attacked him with the Taser, assaulted him and took his money, his cellphone and other items.

On Thursday, deputies arrested Pelletier at his home on the 2000 block of Northcrest Drive in Crescent City at about 8:50 a.m., Wilson said. During a search of the suspect’s home, they found evidence of a hashish lab, several firearms including a loaded sawed off shotgun, a silencer and a flash suppressor device, according to the sheriff.

“We had information that he was in the area,” Wilson said, adding that the Curry County Sheriff’s Office contacted Del Norte County. “He was wanted out of Oregon on numerous charges: conspiracy to commit burglary in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, robbery in the second degree, two counts of unlawful possession of a Schedule I controlled substances and assault in the third degree.”

Wilson said his deputies knew Pelletier from previous run-ins and thought they knew where he would be. The warrant from Curry County listed Pelletier’s bail at $475,000, Wilson said.

On April 12, following the home invasion robbery, Curry County sheriff deputies arrested 23-year-old Bobby Landers, of Brookings, in connection with the crimes against Haussler, according to the Pilot. Deputies also arrested Hannah Fallert, 23, who lives with Landers, after discovering methamphetamine and heroin.

Landers was charged with robbery, burglary and theft as well as third-degree assault and possession of methamphetamine and heroin, according to the Pilot. Fallert was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

On April 14, Curry County deputies arrested 23-year-old Kayla Ledford in connection with the home invasion robbery, according to the Pilot. Ledford, who was with Haussler at the time of the robbery, was booked into the Curry County jail on charges of first-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and first-degree robbery.
