Police arrested eight people Friday after a major sweep in search of those with felony arrest warrants was conducted.
"We just made a list of people that needed attention," said Del Norte County Sheriff Detective Sgt. Steve Morris, adding that the last time a sweep of this size occurred was about a year ago.
"This is the first time we've had the manpower up to do all this," Morris said.
Working with the Sheriff's Office drug task force and the Del Norte County District Attorney's Office, detectives started their rounds at noon Friday and finished at 10 p.m.
Dennis R. Scott, 58, of Klamath, was found at his home with an $8,000 electronic generator/light tower/welder that Morris said was stolen from the Klamath River Bridge during the summer in the midst of construction.
"He'd painted it to disguise it (and) had it hidden under a tarp," Morris said, noting it wasn't in use.
Also found were four high-intensity lights that Morris said also were from the bridge construction site.
Scott was charged with felony probation violation, possession of , possession of marijuana, possession of both substances for sale, possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a loaded firearm during the commission of a crime.
Morris said he "had no idea" so much would be recovered at Scott's residence, as "we just went out there to arrest him."
At the same time and address, Tina A. Webster, 39, of Klamath, was arrested for possession of meth.
Michael Luihn, 47, of Crescent City, also was arrested on a felony warrant out of Mendocino County for stalking.
Andreath Shane Hurd, 26, of Crescent City, was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender and a state parole violation.
"We keep real close tabs on those guys," Morris said.
Luihn's arrest led to two other arrests, Morris said, who were at the same home on Elk Valley Road.
Crystal J. Hight, 52, of Crescent City, was arrested for felony probation violation, possession of meth and possession of less than an ounce of pot.
Hight's daughter, 24-year-old Melanie J. Rische, was arrested for felony probation violation, possession of meth and possession of drug use paraphernalia.
Dusty A. Davidson, 33, of Crescent City, was arrested for six misdemeanor no-bail arrest warrants.
"That was kind of glaring (and) it was obvious that he wasn't taking care of business," Morris said.
All charges have been forwarded to the District Attorney's Office.
