Gov. taps Doehle as new DN judge

Del Norte Superior Court finally has a second judge, nearly a year after Robert Weir’s retirement.

The Governor’s Office announced Wednesday that local attorney Chris Doehle  will become Del Norte County’s first female judge. She is a registered Democrat who has been in private practice since 1995.

Doehle was an associate attorney at Harland Law Firm for five years before starting her own practice.

She received her law degree from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon.

She joins Del Norte’s other magistrate, William Follett.

The courthouse has been shuffling judges in and out who were willing to temporarily fill the empty bench left by Weir’s retirement until an appointment was made.

Other local attorneys who applied for the judgeship included Darren McElfresh and Bob Cochran.
