Governor appoints fair board directors

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced seven appointments of people from Del Norte County to its Fair Board of Directors.

Five are from Crescent City and two are from Smith River.

Crescent City residents chosen include:

•Arman Gunnerson, 69, a retired auditor/appraiser. He is a Republican.

•Kevin Hartwick, 45, managing partner of Chol-well, Benz and Hartwick CPAs and owner of Flying B Ranch. He is a Democrat.

•Karen Phillips, 45, owner of PS Secretarial Services since 2003. She is a Democrat.

•Richard Taylor, 56, a certified public accountant who serves as chief financial officer for the Solid Waste Authority. Taylor is a Republican.

•John Tynes, 49, a physician who is a member of the County Historical Socieity Board and the Council of Economic Advisors of the Tri-Agency Economic De-velopment Authority. Tynes is a Democrat.

From Smith River:

•Kara Miller, 53, an office manager for Dahlstrom and Watt Buld Farms and a tribal chair for Smith River Ranch-eria. She is a Democrat.

•Ernest Silva, 69, who retired as manager of Reser-vation Ranch in 2001 and is a member of Del Norte County Farm Bureau. He is a Re-publican.
