The Del Norte Healthcare District will negotiate the $1.35 million sale of its A Street property to an El Dorado Hills development company at a closed-door session during a Tuesday night meeting.
The session will take place at the end of a 6:30 p.m. meeting in Sutter Coast Hospital's conference room A.
A 9,000 square-foot building at the 1-acre oceanside A Street parcel hosts the Del Norte Community Health Center. Those services will transfer to the Del Norte Community Wellness Center, a 28,000 square-foot building under construction on Northcrest Drive.
The district will review that project's financing during Tuesday's meeting, as well.
Costs for the projected $6.3 million project have climbed to more than $7 million. District executive officer Norma Reynolds attributes the increase to rain delays and rising construction material prices.
"Everything escalated. We couldn't get cement," Reynolds said.
Plans substituted carpeting and types of paint to save money, said project principal Fred Campbell of Criminal Justice Research Foundation.
The district contracted the Sacramento firm for more than $200,000 to manage the project.
Construction crews are finishing interior and exterior wall construction and installing plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems, Campbell said.
About 65 percent of the work on the center is complete.
About half of the money from the A Street property sale will fund the new center, now set to open in late spring or early summer instead of March, as expected.
