High winds, lots of rain during week |
Crescent City can expect up to 3 inches of rain this holiday week, and some parts of inland Del Norte County might get up to 7. The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a wind advisory for North Coast until 3 p.m. Wednesday. Winds will be blowing 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and possibly exceeding 55 mph. Gale force winds are expected offshore. The NWS advises that lightweight objects could be blown around if not properly secured. Small trees and branches maybe knocked down by the wind. Driving may also be difficult. The NWS in Medford reports the potential for significant rises or flooding along rivers and streams in Curry and Josephine counties in Oregon during this week’s wet weather. Rain and wind have been pounding Del Norte since Monday and it’s not expected to let up until after Thanksgiving. There might be a short break in the weather Wednesday in front of another storm that’s anticipated to arrive on the holiday, said Brian Caffrey, a meteorologist with the NWS. The inundation of rain and wind could create hazardous driving conditions for those traveling this holiday. The wind could bring down small trees or limbs. Rock and mudslides are also possible along roadways. The weather should dry out this weekend, Caffrey said. |
