A Crescent City man was found dead in Trinity County on Monday after his truck went off an embankment on a forest road, the California Highway Patrol said.
James R. Presler, 31, was found after his 1993 Toyota pickup slid off the right shoulder of Forest Road 1 off of Highway 36 near Mad River as he was navigating a curve, the CHP said.
The crash likely occurred sometime from 8 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday, the CHP said.
Presler was ejected from his truck as it rolled several times, the CHP said. He was alone except for his dog, Rogue, who also was killed.
Presler’s body was found near the truck about 175 feet from the road, the CHP said.
Today would have been his 32nd birthday.
