Man dies in an accidental shooting

Authorities say he was shot by his brother, who has been arrested

A brother lost and a brother arrested.

Authorities are investigating  what they have deemed an accidental shooting that took place Friday around 2:30 p.m. at a residence at 145 Whaleview Court Drive.

Kyle W. Anderson, 19, died at the scene. He resided at the house.

His brother, Cameron D. Anderson, 21, was arrested later Friday afternoon on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.

The child endangerment charge stems from there being small children nearby when the shooting occurred, said sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven.

Cameron Anderson, a Grants Pass, Ore., resident, will likely be booked and released at Del Norte County Jail, considering it was deemed an accident, Steven said.

At the scene, several people were standing in the frontyard, including a small child. They were visibly distraught, crying at times. A male was vomiting.

Authorities declined to comment about how the shooting occurred. More information should be available next week.

The shooting involved a 9mm pistol.
