Officers still investigating five stabbings
Plack: Some witnesses unwilling to cooperateCrescent City Police are still investigating an early Sunday altercation in which five local men suffered stab wounds. Suspects have not been identified, but officers are trying to locate people of interest and certain witnesses who may have key evidence, Police Chief Doug Plack said Wednesday. “Not everybody’s willing to cooperate, so when you have that interfering with your investigation it makes it cumbersome,” said Plack. Officers responded to an altercation outside Torero’s Restaurant in Crescent City and found five men lying in the parking lot with stab wounds. An argument inside the restaurant between two groups of people led to the altercation outside, Plack said, adding several people left the scene before officers arrived. One victim remains at Sutter Coast Hospital in stable condition. Jeremiah Rodrigues, Nicholas Maraganis and William Eldredge have been released from Sutter Coast. And John Ludwig, who was flown to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Ore., has also been released from the hospital. Officers have spoken to several witnesses and victims, but still are working to verify the information gathered, Plack said. “It’s a very tedious investigation that needs to be conducted,” said Plack. “It’s important to know that when you have these investigations a rush to judgment does not serve anybody justice.” Plack encourages anyone with information about the case or was at the restaurant that night to contact police at 464-2133. |
