One man was killed and another hospitalized after being stabbed in Crescent City Saturday night.
Alan Wayne Nuss, 22, died shortly after he was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital to be treated for knife wounds to his chest and abdomen.
A second victim, Eugene Olisinio Abasolo, 20, who suffered similar wounds, was upgraded to good condition at the hospital yesterday, according to Sutter Coast.
We dont know what started the fight, said Crescent City Police Chief Bob West. We know they were together earlier in the evening. They split up somehow and then got back together. Thats when the fight started.
Police officers Jim Holt and Caleb Chadwick responded to the call at the Seabreeze Apartments at 1045 East Condor Street at 8:50 p.m. Saturday.
Chadwick said there were at least 30 people gathered at the scene. Many were onlookers but it is still uncertain how many people were involved in the altercation.
Apartment manager Howard Cronk said neither of the victims lived at Seabreeze and the problem erupted from a party at one of the apartments.
From what I understand, there were 10 guys who were supposed to jump another guy, said Cronk. Then there was this screaming, Theyre going to kill him! Theyre going to kill him! When they got off of him he had blood all over him.
Cronk said tenants at the apartments are still shaken from the incident.
Everybody is scared. They dont want to talk too much, said Cronk. Its unfortunate it had to come here and end here. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened here.
West said yesterday morning the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made in the incident. Anyone with information is requested to call Detective Rodger Chindgren at 464-2133.
