PD has suspects in stabbings
No descriptions released so farThe Crescent City Police Department has suspects in the Nov. 20 stabbings that sent five men to the hospital. No arrests have been made, and descriptions of the suspects are being withheld. Police officers have questioned several people but are still seeking more information about what occurred the night prior to the early-morning stabbings, Police Chief Doug Plack said Friday. Officers responded to an altercation outside Toreros Restaurant in Crescent City and found five men lying in the parking lot with stab wounds. All of the men have since been released from hospitals. An argument inside the restaurant between two groups of people led to the altercation outside, Plack said, adding that several people left the scene before officers arrived. “This type of disturbance is not very conducive to a healthy community, so the people who witnessed this incident should come forward to say we are not going to have this in our community,” Plack said. Reluctant witnesses have hampered the investigation, he said. Plack declined to release the names or descriptions of the suspects. “I’m not at the position I can reveal that at this point,” said Plack. Police have also gathered descriptions of numerous vehicles that left the scene, Plack said. “This is why the investigation is so time-consuming, we do track down every lead that comes through,” said Plack. “Not only do we need to investigate thoroughly and completely, we need to investigate this accurately.” Two CCPD investigators assigned to the case are receiving assistance from the Department of Justice and the District Attorney’s Office.
