Parents will have a chance to view the materials, media and curriculum Wednesday that will be used for Del Norte High School’s sexual education program.
The high school’s Family Life-HIV/AIDS Prevention Program will be offered to ninth-graders and will cover violence and sexual abuse, pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease prevention and abstinence, according to the school’s letter to parents. The program will also cover condom use.
This information is provided by the California Department of Education.
The program will be conducted by partners from the North Coast Rape Crisis Team, the Del Norte County Department of Public Health and the Siskiyou Department of Education.
Parents who do not want their child to participate in the program will be asked to notify the school office by Dec. 3. If the school does not receive a written note from a parent, the child will participate in the class.
The parent preview night will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. in room C-3 at Del Norte High School.
