Pay now, save 50% on traffic violations

California drivers with outstanding traffic tickets that were due before Jan. 1, 2009, can save 50 percent off their bill if they pay now.

As of Sunday,  Assembly Bill 1358  mandates all counties offer a one-time amnesty period that allows drivers to pay a lump sum of 50 percent of the outstanding balance on certain traffic violations to be absolved of the obligation.

Parking tickets, driving under the influence (DUI), and reckless driving cases are not eligible.

You are eligible if:

• You have an outstanding traffic ticket due before Jan. 1, 2009.

• You either failed to appear in court or failed to pay in full.

• The last date you made a payment was on or before Jan. 1, 2009.

• You don’t owe restitution to a victim on any case in the county where the traffic case was filed.

• You don’t have an outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants in the county where the traffic case was filed.

This offer expires June 30.

Pay off traffic tickets at Del Norte County Superior Courthouse on H Street. Payment may be made with credit card, cash, cashier’s checks, money orders, and personal checks.
