Crescent City police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Coast Central Credit Union on Monday morning.
An man walked into Coast Central Credit Union, at 201 H St., sometime from 10:20 to 10:30 a.m., presented the teller with a letter, demanding money and stating that he had a gun, according to Sgt. Erik Apperson of the Crescent City Police Department.
When the man pulled his shirt up and showed the teller a gun stuck in his waistband, the teller provided him with an undisclosed amount of cash and the man left the bank, Apperson said.
“The Crescent City Police Department is obviously very concerned,” Apperson said. “We’re asking local folks for help. He is considered armed and dangerous.”
Apperson added that anyone who spots the suspect should refrain from approaching him and contact law enforcement.
He is a white male adult about 6 feet tall or taller with an average build, a two-tone beard with a dark mustache and chin strip and light gray sides, Apperson said.
The suspect was wearing a dark-colored hooded coat with a light lining and elastic cuffs, a dark shirt, dark pants and white tennis shoes. He was also wearing sunglasses and a knit cap. The suspect was carrying a maroon-colored bank pouch, Apperson said.
Officials are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Crescent City Police Department at 464-2133.
