Redwood, Smith R. schools’ facilities topic of meeting

Del Norte’s school district will focus on improvements at Redwood and Smith River schools tonight at its second facilities master plan meeting.

Using a $125,000 grant from the California Endowment, the district hired Yreka architect Guy Fryer of Siskiyou Design Group. Fryer will take community input on school facilities infrastructure improvements designed to improve student health, safety and learning.

The facilities master plan will help the district identify and prioritize short and long-term facility projects over the next 10–20 years. The master plan is necessary for the district to pursue state modification grant funding and coincides with the recent sale of $5 million in bonds.

The meeting will be held 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Redwood Elementary School, 6900 Lake Earl Drive, Fort Dick.
