Rescue volunteers responded to a distress call made for a 30-year-old man who was swimming in the Smith River near a Walker Road swimming hole Monday afternoon.
The call came around 3:15 p.m., and members of the Smith River Volunteer Fire Department found a man without a pulse lying on the bank of the river, Smith River Fire Chief Glen Hill said.
CPR was given to the man, who then began breathing again, Hill said.
The man was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital.
His name was not available Monday and it is unclear whether he survived.
