Santa flies to Crescent City next Saturday
Parade, tree lighting are set for downtownSanta Claus is coming to town next weekend. No stranger to the skies, Santa’s latest sleigh (a helicopter) will land at Beachfront Park near Front and H streets at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, kicking off the downtown district’s holiday season of events. People can gear up for the big man’s arrival that day at the Santa Welcome Party, featuring music and games by Deejay Justin Dietz from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. at Tsunami Plaza. A light parade begins at 5 p.m. with Santa in tow from the Beachfront Park staging area, north on H Street to Third Street, then east to J Street. Anyone can participate in the parade, but pre-registration of participants is encouraged. Look for a form in today’s Triplicate. After the parade, Miss Del Norte, Megan Webb, will be on hand for a tree lighting at Tsunami Plaza near the fountain, with a light and sound show from Dietz, a performance by the dancers of Dance Arts Studio and music by Jessie Goergen and Scott Perry. Santa plans to set up shop in the Parsons Building and will be available for wishes, advice, pleas, consultations and photos immediately after the music. Check the Triplicate next week for more details on upcoming holiday events. |
