Scenic road reopens after tree damage |
Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway has reopened for vehicle traffic. The parkway had been closed for more than five weeks after four trees, including two old-growth redwoods, fell and severely damaged the road. California State Parks maintenance supervisors Pete Monahan and Dee Dee Cathey and their crews conducted the clean-up and resurfacing with help from Caltrans and the National Park Service. The parkway, 25 miles south of Crescent City, offers a picturesque tour of old-growth redwoods in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. |
