Sheriff’s office: 9 oz. hash, 3 lbs. pot found in traffic stop
Girl, 17, among the three arrestedThree people were arrested Sunday after nine ounces of hash and three pounds of marijuana were found in their car, authorities said. A Del Norte County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a car at 9th and L streets in Crescent City because it did not display a rear license plate, said sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Morris. When the deputy approached, he smelled marijuana, Morris said. The Sheriff’s Office Felony Investigations Unit was then called in to search the car, Morris said. Officers found more than nine ounces of hash separated into several canisters and about three pounds of marijuana in a couple of bags, Morris said. In addition, there were five cans of high quality butane fuel and a PVC pipe, which is suspected of being used to produce the hash, Morris said. Pruning shears, a plant grinder, a digital scale and 94 sandwich bags were also found in the car, Morris said. The driver, Justin Quay, 28, of South Dakota, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, transporting marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, possessing a dangerous weapon and willful cruelty to a child. One of his passengers, Thomas Glover, 29, of New York, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, possessing marijuana, transporting marijuana, possessing marijuana for sale, driving with a suspended license and willful cruelty to a child. The third passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Colorado, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, transporting marijuana and possession of a dangerous weapon.
