An interim CEO for Sutter Coast Hospital has been chosen to head Crescent City’s sole hospital while recruitment for a more long-term CEO continues.
Mitch Hanna, CEO of Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn, has agreed to serve as the interim CEO of Sutter Coast and split his time between Auburn and Crescent City, heading both facilities at the same time, according to information released by Sutter Coast on Friday.
Hanna replaces interim CEO Linda Horn, who had served in that position for 14 months before stepping down due to health concerns.
Hanna has 33 years of health care experience, 28 of which have been with Sutter Health. Following five years of employment in the Legal Department of Tenet Healthcare, he entered the hospital administration arena as the general counsel and chief administrative officer for Memorial Medical Center Modesto before its affiliation with Sutter Health. Hanna has served in his current position as the CEO of Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital for the past 15 years.
Under Hanna’s leadership, Sutter Auburn Faith has received several acknowledgements, including the President’s Award for Best Overall Dashboard Performance, the President’s Award for Most Improved Performance, recognition by Consumer Reports as one of the three safest hospitals in California, the President’s Award for Top Quality Performance for three consecutive years and most recently the President’s Award for Most Affordable Hospital.
In April of this year, Sutter Auburn Faith was recognized as a Top 100 Hospital in both critical care and pulmonary care and in the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide for patient experience.
“Mitch is looking forward to supporting Sutter Coast during this transitional period and is excited by the prospect of helping to ensure that the patients in our service area continue to receive outstanding care,” according to information released to Sutter Coast employees on Friday.
