Three people were arrested following a dustup with a sheriff’s deputy in Klamath early Monday.
The deputy, whose name is being withheld by the Sheriff’s Office, responded to a domestic disturbance call at 121 Silverside Circle around 12:40 a.m. that was reported by a neighbor, sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven said.
When the deputy exited his vehicle, he noticed a woman who appeared to be intoxicated outside of the residence who then ran at him and began to attack, Steven said.
“She was swinging her fists at him trying to hit him in the face,” said Steven. “While he was trying to get her under control, two males start coming out of the residence threatening to beat him up if he doesn’t let her go.”
While attempting to keep the two men at bay, the deputy took the woman to the ground to gain control of her, Steven said.
The two men then threatened to kill the deputy if he didn’t let the woman go, Steven said.
Once he had the woman subdued and handcuffed, and while still on top of her, the deputy Tasered the two men who had began approaching him, Steven said.
The deputy was also able to call for backup, although he was slightly injured, Steven said.
During the incident, a gun was discharged which caused even more tension, though it was determined to be unrelated, Steven said.
A California Highway Patrol officer, who was near Trees of Mystery, raced to the scene and helped the deputy handcuff the two men, Steven said.
Authorities from the Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and Crescent City Police Department responded to the scene.
The woman, identified as Mistey Ridenour, 22, of Crescent City, was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital, where she was medically cleared, but not before she kicked a hospital staff member, Steven said.
Ridenour was arrested on suspicion of felony resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance.
The two men, Robert Ray, 36, of Klamath, and Coty Bates, 21, of Klamath, were arrested on suspicion of making terrorist threats and felony resisting arrest.
Ray resides at the house where the confrontation took place, Steven said..
