Gunman assaults clerk, flees with undisclosed cash
A local auto parts store was the scene of a violent robbery Monday morning.
Around 7 a.m., a man wearing a mask and brandishing a handgun walked into O’Reilly Auto Parts store through the back door as the store was opening for business, according to a press release from the Crescent City Police Department.
The man demanded money from a store clerk, who complied, then was assaulted by the robbery suspect, the CCPD stated. Chief Doug Plack declined to elaborate on the nature of the assault due to the ongoing investigation. The clerk did not require hospitalization.
The man then ran with an undisclosed amount of cash through the back door and continued north. He was described as white, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 20–27 years old, with a slender build and a goatee.
He was loitering around trash containers at the rear of the building waiting for the store to open, the CCPD stated.
