The search is over for a Smith River man wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.
The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from an anonymous source about the whereabouts of Dustin Scott, 34, on Friday, said Diana Stanley, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. Scott was found and taken into custody in Smith River at 7:15 a.m. Friday without incident on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, threatening crime with intent to terrorize and exhibiting a firearm.
Scott was wanted in connection with an incident on March 10 in which he is suspected of striking Lanelle Moorehead with a semi-automatic pistol at Shaker Church in Smith River before turning the gun on Moorehead’s boyfriend, Christian Ottersbach.
Scott did not have a firearm in his possession at the time of the arrest. His bail was set at $50,000.
