She met Randy Davis working at Builders Emporium in Long Beach in 1976 and both knew right from the start that each had found the person they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with. Their first date was in April 1976 and they were married just five months later on September 10. Randy and Cathy lived in Long Beach for 28 years, where they raised their two children, Beth and Joshua.
Cathy loved her family and told Randy when they first met that she would always live close to her parents. She was happiest when her brothers and their families would all meet at her parents’ home for a Sunday barbecue. Cathy also loved the holiday season, spending countless days decorating their home for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was an avid reader and spent much time in libraries discovering new authors’ books to read.
Randy’s work took them to Paradise, Calif., in January 2002. It was a huge move and very difficult for Cathy to leave her family, but it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the Paradise area. She and Randy made wonderful friends there and soon considered it “home.”
In 2010, Randy became the press manager for the Triplicate’s Smith River Printing Plant and he and Cathy moved to Crescent City in August 2010.
Survivors include her husband Randy; son Joshua; daughter Beth; parents, Don and Barbara Brown; three brothers, Mike (Debbie), Rick (Barbara), and Gary; four nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roberta and Jim Jansen, and Kenneth and Francis Leora Brown.
Private services will be held in Paradise, Calif., on June 17.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Cathy’s name.
