Frances May Clay (April 7, 1928 – Sept. 18, 2012)

 Frances went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Curry Good Samaritan Center, Brookings, Ore., and was laid to rest with her husband Frank Clay in Eagle Point National Cemetery, White City, Ore.

Frances moved to Crescent City with her husband and their children from Lakewood, Calif., in 1968. Together they raised three sons, John, Steven, and Michael. Fran was a resident of Crescent City until April of 2011, when she was moved to Curry Good Samaritan Center. 

 

Frances was a very devout Christian and served in her home church, First Baptist Church of Lakewood, as the youth director. Frances also taught arts and crafts at church youth camps and conferences. After moving to Crescent City, Frances and her family joined the Fort Dick Bible Church and for many years, opened their home to the high school and college students for fun and fellowship. Later, Frances helped start New Life Community Church where she faithfully served until suffering a stroke in 2006. 

Frances loved to travel, visiting family and the many friends she made through the years. She also enjoyed driving her motorhome and serving as a camp host during the summer, her favorite being in Yachats, Ore.

Frances is survived by her sons John Mayton, Steven Clay and Michael Clay; three grandchildren, Marina Mayton, Rebecca Clay, and Michael J. Clay; numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Maureen Clay; her husband, Frank Clay; her brothers, Jack Davis, Jim Davis, and Charles Davis.

A Celebration-of-Life memorial service will be held Monday, October 8, 2012. at 1 p.m. at Faith Christian Center, 117 Brookings Ave., Smith River.
