Marlene Arrevia DeMaris passed away on June 2, 2014, in Medford, Ore. She was born in Chula Vista, Calif., on Nov. 20, 1958, to Wilford H. McConkey and Caroline K. Cummins McConkey Hare. She was the middle child of three children. She graduated from Del Norte High School in 1977. Marlene married Benjamin H. DeMaris on January 6, 1979. Together they stayed in Crescent City, where she worked at Glen’s Bakery; she loved working for Ray and Roberta Young. She had four children. She and her husband loved to take the family camping and doing things as a family. Family meant everything to Marlene. Marlene had many friends she loved to talk to and visit with. She enjoyed church and watching the kids soccer games.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline K. Cummins McConkey Hare, and father, Wilford H. McConkey, and also her stepfather Alvin Hare and brother Gary McConkey. She is survived by her husband, Ben H. Demaris; her sons, Pat Demaris, Ben L.J. Demaris, Tom Demaris and Mike Demaris; her stepdaughter, Jennifer Demaris Hutto; daughters-in-law Brandy Rambeau DeMaris, Motoko Kawamata DeMaris, sister Kathy C. McConkey, step-sisters Carrol Brown and Alice Baxter, step-brothers Bobby Hare and Jerry Hare, six grandchildren, aunts, uncles and all family.
Celebration of life and potluck following will be held at Smith River Baptist Church in Smith River on June 14, 2014, at 1 p.m.
