Obituaries: Arthur D. Stone (Oct. 23, 1935 – Feb. 19, 2011)

Art was an unforgettable man who never met a stranger. He was born October 23, 1935, in Ohio, moved to Beaverton, Ore. as a toddler and moved to Del Norte County more than 35 years ago. He was a wood sculptor and hydra stone carver. He would sit on the side of the road and carve just about anything you wanted. He leaves many friends and family and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arnold, sister Arlene and sons Ralph, John  and Todd.

He is survived by long-time partner Patty Stone, sons Robert and Ricky, and daughters Robin, Diane, Jamie, Ronni and Cindy. Also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A vibrant and bold witness for the Lord, he is now home with Jesus. A celebration of life will be held Saturday Feb. 26,  3 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 1281 Douglas St. Potluck to follow. Please make any contributions to Cornerstone Assembly of God Church.
