Berniece C. "Bee" Eldred, 90, of Great Falls, Mont., died April 19, 2007, of natural causes at a local nursing home, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She had been a resident for one year.
She was born Oct. 9, 1916, to Gilman C. and Lottie Baller Herring. She was born and raised on her parents' farm near Lafayette, Colo.
She graduated from Longmont High School and became a piano and accordion teacher, and later a professional seamstress. Her love of music lasted a lifetime.
She married Fred "Fritz" Eldred Oct. 5, 1940, and they made Boulder, Colo., their home for many years. They both loved nature and spent their summers camping, hiking into high mountain lakes and fishing together in the Colorado mountains.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while living in Tucson, Ariz. After Fritz died in Tucson in May 1991, Bee moved back to Colorado to be with her only child, Charlene. They they moved to Cascade, Mont., six years ago, where she loved watching the deer play just outside their home.
Bee is survived by her daughter, Charlene James of Great Falls, Mont.; her step-daughter, Mrs. Bob Rhodes, of Deming, N.M.; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard McGill of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Woodrow and Kyle James of Crescent City and Melinda Montague of Great Falls, Mont., Gayle Sawhill of Deming, N.M. and Scott Fleming of Colorado; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory.
