Obituaries: Bethany Pearl Otremba(1925-2007)

Bethany Pearl Otremba, 81, died Oct. 7, 2007 in Crescent City of natural causes. Born Dec. 21, 1925 at the Top of the World Ranch near Grants Pass, Ore., she was the seventh of 11 children born to George and Hazel Barton.

A Crescent City resident since 1959, she was a columnist for The Daily Triplicate, enjoyed gardening, canning and baking, and was highly sought after for her elaborately decorated wedding cakes.

Survivors include daughters Jacklyn Boor of Sacramento, Paula Lang and husband Richard of Oroville, and sons Randall, Ronald and Fredrick Otremba of Crescent City; eight grandchildren, Stacey Boor Morgan, Jason Boor, Eric Boor, Trever Reynolds, Ryan Reynolds, Barbara Lang, Robert Lang and Logan Otremba; four great grandchildren, Michelle Reynolds, Nicole Reynolds, Elizabeth Morgan and Joseph Morgan; brothers and sisters Quinton Barton and Richard Barton of the Eugene, Ore., area, Ruth Barton Davis of Winslow, Maine and Bethel Barton Wormington of Longview, Wash.

A private memorial service is pending arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, 115 Talbot Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
