Obituaries: Dale Edward Tromble(1917-2008)

Dale Edward Tromble, 90, passed away Jan. 2 in Crescent City. He was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Coleridge, Neb., to Edward and Pearl (Sutton) Tromble. He was a 44-year resident of Del Norte County.

Prior to enlisting and serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, Dale attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Upon completion of his studies, Dale farmed and served on the Cedar County School Board in Coleridge.

He moved his family to Crescent City in 1963 and was soon after employed by the city as a building inspector, then director of public works and city manager. After his retirement in 1983, Dale served on the Del Norte County Planning Commission.

Dale is survived by his wife of 67 years, Irene Tromble of Crescent City, sons Ed, and his wife Nancy Tromble of Olympia, Wash., and Lee and his wife, Robin Tromble, of Crescent City. Grandchildren include Ian and Layla Tromble, Anna Lawrence, Paul Tromble and Rachel and Lindsay Tromble. He also is survived by three great-grandchildren. Mr. Tromble was preceded in death by his son, Alan Tromble, in June 2005.

Private services will be held and internment will take place at the Del Norte County Veteran's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
