Obituaries: Daniel Amarante (Sept. 10, 1940 – Aug. 17, 2011)

Daniel Amarante, 70, passed away on August 17, 2011, in Crescent City. He was born on September 10, 1940, in Terceira, Azores. Daniel was a three-year resident of Del Norte County having moved here from Hemet, Calif. Prior to his retirement, Daniel built dairies for over 35 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing on the Smith River and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his spouse Carolyn Amarante of Crescent City. Children Velma Amarante of Chino, Calif.; son Daniel Amarante, Jr. and wife April of Crescent City; Theresa Amarante of Chino, Calif.; Joe Amarante of Texas; Christina Amarante, Laura Alba and Linda Amarante all of Chino, Calif. Brothers Luis Amarante of San Jose, Calif.; Dewart Amarante of Chino, Calif.; and John Amarante of Tulare, Calif. 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held in Southern California with interment at Riverside National Cemetery.
