Darren Mark Stone, 43, died May 17 in Crescent City, where he lived for 25 years.
He was born Nov. 25 1964, in Burbank to Gary Stone and Gloria Gregory. He graduated from Wright City High School in Wright City, Mo., Richards Beauty College in Chino, and was working on a bachelor's degree in administrative justice at College of the Redwoods.
He was a cosmetologist and in-home caregiver. He was a student in the Citizen Police Academy in Crescent City and in Pensacola, Fla. He played guitar, keyboard, loved walking on the beach, going to the river, collecting seashells and shooting guns.
He always loved singing, music and all aspects of the criminal justice system and law enforcement.
He is survived by his common-law wife of 20 years, Linda L. Harrison; aunt and uncle Linda and Bob Purcell of Wildomar; cousins DeAnna, Aaron, Luke and Katy Davis of Canyon Lake; father and stepmother Gary and Marietta Stone and brother Christopher Stone of Foristell, Miss.; uncle Dennis Stone of Foristell, Miss.; aunt and uncle Mary Kay and Jim Nugent of Portland, Ore.; cousins Donald, Donna, Ariel and Katlyn Stone of Crescent City; cousin Kenny Stone of Medford, Ore.; great aunt Imogene Fordyce of Corpus Christi, Texas; stepson Jeremy Shuman; stepdaughter-in-law Melissa Hermosillo; step-grandchildren Ethan and Talan; stepdaughter Brandy Strickland; stepson-in-law Ervin Strickland II and step-grandchildren Trevin and Makensie.
