Obituaries: Debra K. Chavez (Oct. 9, 1953 – May 25, 2011)

Debra K. Chavez passed away on May 25, 2011, in Medford, Ore., after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born to Francis and Betty Jabbora on Oct. 9, 1953, in Crescent City. Debra was a life-long resident of Del Norte County and a graduate of Del Norte High School. She was employed by the State Board of Equalization for 20 years prior to her retirement.

Debra enjoyed ceramics, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother Betty Jabborra, son Francisco Chavez and his fiancee Christie Folkins, sister Pamela and husband Glen Hartsough. Nephew David and wife Tatiana Stanley, grandchildren Abel and Adriana, great nieces and nephews.

Debra was preceded in death by her father Francis Jaborra, husband Abel Chavez and son Abel Chavez.

Memorial Christian services will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, May 28, at noon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
