Obituaries: Dennis “Buzz” Lamoine Houtz (Aug. 8, 1936 – Feb. 26, 2011)

Dennis “Buzz” Lamoine Houtz passed away on Feb. 26, 2011, in Crescent City. He was born on Aug. 8, 1936 in Burlington, Iowa. He was a veteran, having served with the Army.

Dennis worked at Latchford Glass of Huntington Park for many years. He was able to get his general contractor license in 1983, establishing his own company, which included building and remodeling of all kinds. He was a master in his own craftmanship. Dennis was truly a carpenter by heart. Even in retirement, he was busy fixing the family home and building birdhouses. He was an active member of the Crescent City Fuchsia Club.

Dennis is survived by his wife Blandina Houtz of Crescent City, children Bridget Williams of Redding, Calif., Alan Houtz of King City, Mike, Mark, Scotty and Susie of Iowa, and numerous grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Del Norte County Veteran’s Cemetery on Wednesday, March 2, at 2 p.m.
