Obituaries: Dorothy "Dot" Marie Biggers(1934-2007)

Dorothy "Dot" Marie Biggers died June 28, 2007, in Crescent City.

She was born at home Dec. 4, 1934, near Drumright, Okla., to Orval and Jewel Moseley.

She moved with her family, which included 15 children, to Oregon in 1939 and then to California. She settled in Crescent City in 1960, met and married Don Biggers in 1961.

She worked in the Dietary Department of Seaside/Sutter Coast Hospital for 25 years; retiring in 1986. She was a active member of the Lion's Club, and was named Del Norte County Mother of the Year in 1979.

Her hobbies included reading, writing poetry and short stories, painting, sewing, gardening and cooking for family and friends.

Her five children and their spouses survive her. They include Beverlle (Timothy) Gustafson, Paul (Janice) Wilds, Ellen (Albert) Wilson, Marie Biggers (Jack) Myers and Rhonda (Boa) Hill.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Biggers, in 2005.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.

Her family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
