Dorothy A. Powell was born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Eugene, Ore., and passed away on Feb. 28, 2011, in Crescent City. She spent the last six years at the Crescent City Nursing and Rehab suffering from dementia, “slowly fading away.”
Dorothy loved being around people. Her jobs included working at radio station KPLY, Endert’s Drug Store, U.S. Forest Service in Gasquet, teacher’s aide – grandparents program. Her hobbies included square dancing, league bowling, arts and crafts and she loved photography.
Dorothy had two close friends, she spoke highly of, Marilyn Owen and Pam Woods, with whom she liked to pal around with. Her neighbor “Chuck” was always on call. Thanks Chuck!
Her survivors include Bob Frazier of Tennessee, Lee Tremont of
Washington, John Powell III of Eureka, Jesse Powell of Fortuna, Calif.,
Pam Claasen of Crescent City. Grandchildren Brian, Tammy, Rebbeca,
Shanna, Daron, Ashton, Adam, Jessica and Johnathan, and numerous
great-grandchildren.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the ladies at the
Crescent City Nursing and Rehab for their compassion and caring they
provided to our mother.
Graveside services for family members will be held at a later date at
Missouri Flats Cemetery, Murphy, Ore., on the Applegate River.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of
Crescent City.
