Doug Yeoman passed away Oct. 18, 2008. He was 83.
Doug was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Vail, Ore., to Glen and Ila Yeoman. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served in World War II and the Korean War. He married Clara Belle Turner on Aug. 7, 1949 in Lebanon, Ore.
His military career gave his family the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and overseas. Doug retired from the military in 1966 in San Diego County and was employed by Litton Industries as an engineer and then by Civil Service in the Department of Defense as a configuration manager. He retired from Civil Service in 1980 and moved to Crescent City to fulfill his childhood dream of building a home for Clara and living among the trees.
Doug was preceded in death by his son, Michael Yeoman.
He is survived by his wife Clara; daughter Bonnie Myers; son Joseph Yeoman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Gerry Yeoman, and nieces Gerrie Evans and Candi Powell. At the time of his death, Doug and Clara had been married for 59 years.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 31 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City
