Obituaries: Ethel S. Cauthron(1935-2007)

Ethel S. Cauthron, 72, died on December 29, 2007 in Crescent City. She was born on May 15, 1935 in Victor, Idaho. She was a 50-year resident of Del Norte County. She was employed by Seaside Hospital for 20 years as a purchasing agent. Ethel then opened and operated Ethel's Dress Store until her health forced her to retire. She was also a member of the Emblem Club.

She is survived by her son Mark Cauthron of Hillsboro, Ore., sisters Alice Ashcroft of Hazelton, Idaho and Audrey Stoker of Mesa, Wash., brothers Roy Mecham of Nyssa, Ore., and Vern Mecham of Mt. Vernon, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alma and Caroline Mecham, her husband of 44 years Charlie Catheron, brothers Rone and Eldon Mecham and sister Eva Osburn.

The family requests contributions be made to American Diabetes Association, 1900 Powell Street, Suite 285, Emeryville, CA 94608-1897, or the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Visitation will be held from 9-5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 at Wier's Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral services wil be held at Wier's Mortuary Chapel on Friday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. with private interment at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery, Crescent City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
