Frances B. Currie died April 25, 2011, in Crescent City at the age of 95 after a long and happy life. She was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Hawthorne, Calif., where she grew up and married her high school sweetheart, Charles Currie. During WWII Frances worked as a Rosie the Riveter at Northrup Aircraft. She worked many years at the local elementary school as a lunch yard supervisor, which she enjoyed.
She was committed to her husband and family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. After Charles retired they moved to Crescent City in 1975, following brothers, their son and daughter. Frances loved living in Crescent City. She loved perch fishing on the beach with the family, camping, gardening and her many crafts. She help establish the Crescent Harbor Art Gallery, which she was a member for many years. She was a life-long artist adept in many fields of artistry. In 1932, while in high school, her drawing was chosen for the mascot of her high school and is still being used to this day.
She is survived by her son, Jim Currie (Vera) and daughter Carolyn
Tweed (Chuck) of Crescent City. Grandchildren Heather Longcor (Erick) of
Madera, Melanie Berry (Rick), Charles Tweed (Jennifer), Christopher
Tweed (Michelle), James Tweed, Chelsee Tweed, all of Crescent City.
Great-grandchildren: Ty, Mateha, Sydni, Nolan, Garin, Hunter, Parker,
Dawson, Gavyn, Rainy, Riley, Megan and Wade.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Currie of 44 years.
She was the youngest of four brothers and two sisters, Wilma, Roy,
George, Lucille, Ralph and Claud.
The next generation of Germains has now taken over, but her loving
spirit will be remembered.
She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great
nephews.
A remembrance will be held this summer at the Germain Family Reunion
to be held in Hiouchi.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of
Crescent City.
