Obituaries: Gertrude Nathleen Romanose (June 29, 1945 – July 21, 2011) |
Gertrude Nathleen Romanose passed away in Eureka, Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the age of 66. She will be remembered as a free spirit by all those who knew and loved her. She loved to laugh, she enjoyed sharing Yurok traditional foods and good times with friends and family. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, and hiking in the redwoods with her sons. She was a lifelong resident of Del Norte County, born in Crescent City. She is survived by her sons Lewis Oscar (Anna), Leland Oscar (Nancy), John Spott, Lupe Oscar and Edward Spott; daughter Marilyn Oscar, also sister Marilyn Martin; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Her sister Marilyn will always hold cherished memories of the times they shared while growing up in Klamath and Crescent City. She was preceded in death by her spouse Theodore Romanose; her parents; and 15 siblings. A viewing will be held at Wier’s Mortuary on Friday July 29, 2011, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A private memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Beach Front Park, Crescent City.
