Gustav A. "Gus" Sather, 95, of Colton, died Dec. 2, 2007, in Molalla, Ore. of natural causes. He was born Feb. 21, 1912, in Como, Mont., to Einar and Alice Lue Rennaker Sather.
As a young man, he migrated to the west coast and eventually settled in the Crescent City area.
He married Barbara LaVern Harlon. The marriage ended in divorce. He spent most of his life in Crescent City. He retired in 1976, after working nearly 40 years in the sawmill industry. The last few years of his life were spent living in Colton with his daughter and son-in-law. There he enjoyed farm life and the woods that surrounded him and his beloved goats, his family said.
Survivors include his daughter Rhea, her husband Troy Henshaw and their sons Justin, Kevin, and Royce Shorten, of Colton.
He was preceded in death by brothers William Edward Sather and Cecil Lenard Sather.
A graveside service will be Dec. 5, at 11 a.m., at Crescent City Cemetery, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, on Cooper Ave., in Crescent City.
Memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
